Private Albert Stone - Royal Warwicks
   

Francis Albert Stone was born in Uffculme, Devon in 1885.

By 1901 he was in Tiverton Union Workhouse with his widowed mother and his sister. At some point he joined the 1st/5th Royal Warwickshire Regiment. According to his Medal Roll he was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

When he came to live in Chellaston is unknown, in 1911 he was still living in Devon working as a baker.

However in early 1917 he married Evelyn Harris who was born in Chellaston and was living in Chellaston in 1911. He was killed in action on 9th August 1917 and is buried at the Track “X” Cemetery, Belgium.
